The 3rd Academia Sinica Scholarly Monograph Award ceremony was held today in the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation. Dr. Sher-Shiueh Li, Research Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Literature and Philosophy; Dr. Tzu-Chin Huang, Research Fellow at the Institute of Modern History; Dr. Shu-Perng Hwang, Research Fellow at the Institutum Iurisprudentiae; Dr. Carl K.Y. Shaw, Research Fellow at the Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences; and Dr. Lawrence Yim, Research Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Literature and Philosophy received awards.

The five winning monographs cover research into Jesuit translated literature, Chinese poems during the Ming-Qing period, the modern Sino-Japanese relationship, political ideas of western republicanism, and “indefinite legal concept”. The recipients each received a certificate and a cash prize of NT$600,000.

This year, a total of 39 applications were received from a wide range of fields. All submissions underwent a stringent review procedure of the highest standard. During the ceremony, the five winners briefly presented their winning publications. The ceremony was hosted by President Chi-Huey Wong.
